The first edition of "imm india" is scheduled to take place from March 11 to 14, 2026, in the capital, New Delhi. At the state-of-the-art Yashobhoomi convention and exhibition center (India International Convention and Expo Centre, IICC), the B2B trade fair will bring together exhibitors from the furniture and interior design sectors with more than 5,000 buyers from India and around the world. As a strategic extension of the internationally renowned "imm cologne," "imm india" is intended to position itself as a central platform "offering global brands a targeted entry into the Indian growth market, while opening up international sales channels for Indian manufacturers," according to Koelnmesse.

India's furniture market is growing rapidly
The premiere of "imm india" comes at a time when India's furniture and furnishings industry is developing at a rapid pace – driven by a rising middle class, rapid urbanization, and a highly dynamic retail environment. The domestic furniture market reached a volume of approximately USD 23.8 billion in 2024. This is expected to rise to USD 44.2 billion by 2033, corresponding to an average annual growth rate of 6.4 percent. At the same time, exports from India continue to gain importance: Between November 2023 and October 2024, exports grew by 4 percent – primarily to the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.

The plan is for "imm india" to cover the entire spectrum of modern interior design solutions – from furniture for the home, contract, and outdoor living segments to lighting, floor and wall coverings, textiles, accessories, and specialized segments such as kitchens. Particular thematic focuses will be on the interplay of traditional Indian craftsmanship with a modern design language, as well as globally influential industry trends such as sustainable materials, intelligent technology integration, and modular concepts.

Close cooperation with well-known Indian industry organizations
Gerald Böse, Chairman of the Management Board of Koelnmesse GmbH, explained: "With 'imm india,' we are bringing the proven concept of 'imm cologne' to a market with immense potential, in close cooperation with renowned Indian industry organizations."

Bharat Dinesh, President of the Jodhpur Handicrafts Exporters Association, said: "The 'imm india' marks a true milestone for Indian handicrafts and interior design. We as an association are delighted to be able to create a platform together with Koelnmesse that offers our members the opportunity to showcase the diversity and craftsmanship of Indian design to a global audience and to establish international partnerships and business connections."
